| How to let External Viewers handle images automatically from your
Internet Browser

- Click the 'Edit' pull down menu
- Click 'Preferences...'
- Next to 'Navigator' click the '+' sign to reveal subtopics and then
click 'Applications'
- Scroll down in Applications window until 'GIF' is visible, highlight
with the mouse and click the "Edit..." button. If 'GIF' is
not in the list you will need to add, see below.
- Ensure that the radio button next to 'Application:' is selected
and click the "Browse..." button
- Find the folder to which you downloaded or unzipped your image viewer,
highlight and click "Open" then "OK"
To Add Applications click "New Type..." and:
- Enter 'GIF' for Description of type:
- Enter 'gif' for File extension:
- Enter 'image/gif' for MIME Type:
- Click the "Browse..." button
- Find the folder to which you downloaded or unzipped your image viewer,
highlight and click "Open" then "OK"

Internet Explorer 5.x (SEE NOTE BELOW) |
- From the Windows desktop access 'My Computer'
- Click the 'View' pull down menu
- Click 'Options...'
- Click on the 'File Types' folder tab
- Scroll down in the Registered file types: window until 'GIF' is
visible, highlight with the mouse and click the "Edit..." button. If 'GIF' is
not in the list you will need to add, see below.
- Again, click the "Edit..." button and then click the
"Browse..." button to change the application
- Find the folder to which you downloaded or unzipped your image viewer,
highlight and click "Open" then "OK"
- Click "Close" and then "Close" again
To Add Applications click "New Type..." and:
- Enter 'GIF' for Description of type:
- Enter 'gif' for Associated extension:
- Enter 'image/gif' for Content Type (MIME):
- Use the given Default Extension for Content Type:
- Click the "New..." button to add Actions:
- Under Action: type the word 'open' and then click the
"Browse..." button
- Find the folder to which you downloaded or unzipped your image viewer,
highlight and click "Open" then "OK"
- Click the "New..." button again
- Type the word 'print' (for Irfan View 32) and repeat the above
process
- Click the "New..." button again
- Type the word 'printto' (for Irfan View 32) and repeat the above
process
- Click "OK" and then "Close"

| NOTE:IE 5.x does not support the above external viewers
with images that it is capable of handling (i.e. JPEG, GIF). You may still
use them for these image types by completing the above procedures and saving
the image to a folder (right click mouse over image and select
'Save Picture As...'). Using Windows Explorer, highlight folder and
hit 'Enter.' This will allow viewing/printing of the image with the external viewer.
