Forecast - Applying tops value

Once the storms have been detected and given a speed and direction, an echo tops value is assigned. The above image shows the detection shapes overlaid on the echo tops field. An algorithm is run to compute the average of the highest 5% echo top values that are contained within a detection. Click the image to see a new image showing the detection shapes with a vector pointing from the center of the detection (solid white) out to the center of the forecast location (dashed blue). Also labels show the speed (in knots) /echo tops (in 100's of feet).

Click "Next" to go to Smoothing forecast shapes.

Click "Back" to return to Detecting storms.
