Hazard field - Combined radar & lightning field

The above image is the Convective Hazard Field. Click the image to toggle between the tops-filtered VIL date and the Convective Hazard Field.

Lightning data are incorporated into the hazard field, in order to give a more accurate and timely picture of the current convective weather.  The radar data alone often has missing or late reports.  The lightning data can be spurious and not cover all areas of convection.  By combining the two fields, a timely accurate map of convective hazard is obtained.  Click "Lightning" to see an example of the benefits of combining these two fields.

Select "Forecast" to see steps in creating forecast shapes or "Hazard field" to view this from the beginning.
